Hi, I'm Jen

So you’re planning on pouring every ounce of effort into all of the details of one of the biggest days of your life—from booking your dream venue to choosing vendors you can trust. While getting lost in the whirlwind of wedding planning is easy, you have to do everything in your power to avoid stress.

Stress will only lead to skin damage that will ruin your overall look. But, of course, no bride wants that! You deserve to look better than your best with hair, skin, and makeup that are on point.

The good news is that, even if you’re working hard to ensure everything runs smoothly come the big day, you don’t have to suffer from hyperpigmentation, breakouts, blemishes, or other skin challenges.

Much like your other wedding preparations, prepping your skin requires a lot of care and attention, starting months in advance. With just a few adjustments to your lifestyle and your current beauty routine, you’ll be able to flaunt that sought-after bright and healthy-looking bridal skin on your big day.

A Year Before Your Wedding

Ask the Professionals

A year before your wedding, it would be wise to make an appointment with a skincare expert, whether an esthetician or a dermatologist. They will be able to evaluate the condition of your complexion first. Then, with this information, they will create a comprehensive strategy for reaching all of your skincare goals.

It would help if you did this at least a year before because some of the techniques and treatments they recommend might take several months to work.

Heal Your Gut

A healthy stomach is the foundation of beautiful skin. But that’s easier said than done as it can be pretty challenging to stick to a diet leading up to your wedding, what with all the opportunities to overindulge in foods and drinks. The thing is, this can contribute to breakouts, excessive sebum production, and stressed skin.

The key to maintaining a healthy gut is to opt for a diet inclusive of vegetables, pre- and probiotics, fermented foods, lots of water, and proper vitamins. Remember that your diet is just as crucial for maintaining a youthful glow as any skincare products you use!

Manage Your Stress Levels

Many women suffer additional stress when planning a wedding, especially in the months before the big day. Since stress hormones are known to harm the skin, you have to start developing healthy habits as soon as possible. Some of the things you can do to reduce skin issues are:

  • Exercising regularly
  • Practicing yoga and meditation
  • Sleeping well
  • Drinking lots and lots of water

Six to Nine Months Before Your Wedding

Tailor Your Routine

Before your special day, you might want to focus on any trouble spots, such as hyperpigmentation or breakouts. However, don’t add too much to your established routine, as this might just cause even more problems. Instead, apply one active ingredient at a time and determine if your skin can withstand any irritation.

Nine months before your big day, you might want to incorporate retinol and hyaluronic acid products if you don’t have them in your routine yet. These ingredients are two of the most potent ones used in skincare. Retinol improves your skin cell turnover and brightness. On the other hand, hyaluronic acid helps your skin retain moisture, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Get Regular Facials

Start incorporating routine facial treatments into your regimen with the help of an esthetician. These treatments will use larger doses of the active substances to provide more potent outcomes.

Regular treatments every two to three months will often help preserve the health and appearance of your skin while addressing any residual skin issues.

Consult Your Makeup Artist

At least six months before your wedding, have a meeting with your makeup artist. This will allow you to experiment with several styles and discover which one complements your personality, attire, and wedding theme the most.

Ask a makeup artist for some helpful advice if you intend to apply your own makeup. Together, you can decide on your overall appearance, which you can then prepare for. In addition, they’ll get you ready for any D-day hiccups.

Two Months Before Your Wedding

Get Your Last Professional Treatment

This is the closest to your wedding that you should seek expert care for things like chemical peels or laser resurfacing. These procedures might cause irritability and redness that you wouldn’t want on your wedding day. So wrap them up eight weeks before your wedding to allow your skin time to recuperate.

Go Back To The Basics

It’s the final stretch before your big day! Right now, it would be best if you focused on minimizing the number of adjustments you make to your routine. Now’s not the best time to add anything to your regimen as they might have adverse effects.

Instead, make an effort to stick to your regular skincare routine right up to the big day.

Set Aside Time For Yourself

Meeting all these vendors when planning a wedding can lead to many stressful situations. At least three months before your wedding, allocate time for yourself each day.

You’ll be pleasantly pleased by how well this affects your skin and your mental, physical, and emotional well-being. So do whatever soothes, relieves, and inspires you, whether that’s getting coffee with a friend, reading a book, or window shopping.

One Week or Less Before Your Wedding

Try A Facial Massage

Simple facial massages with a facial roller can help your skin gently drain excess fluid and minimize irritation by boosting circulation. You can do this the night before your wedding to make your skin look tighter and smoother on the big day.

Go Make-Up Free!

In the week leading up to your wedding, refrain from wearing makeup as much as possible. This will give your skin a break, allowing it to breathe and prevent any blocked pores that can cause an unwanted breakouts.
