If you’re scouring the web and watching endless tutorials while wondering how to get the best face massage results, you’ve come to the right place. I would get asked this question all the time by clients. It’s a common question I also receive from estheticians when I’m teaching my Inner Mouth Face Massage Training. It’s a valid question and today I’m sharing my juicy, no-fluff answers. So if you are ready to uplevel your Face Massage results, let’s dive in!

To see long-term results with face massage, it is vital to view face massage as a lifestyle practice. Long-lasting results are achieved with consistency, as well as an understanding of what techniques and methods can be best tailored for your unique skin type and any current skin conditions you may be experiencing. If you, for example, have sensitive skin or are experiencing rosacea, vigorous and stimulating massage isn’t going to be very beneficial. On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you are experiencing lackluster, dull skin concerns, vigorous and stimulating massage is going to be beneficial in waking up and activating your complexion.

Face massage results also depend on your lifestyle and diet. You can massage your face all day long but a chronic inflammatory diet and lifestyle practices will quickly hinder your results. Physical components such as sleeping on the stomach, over-squinting, and lack of awareness around facial expressions and facial patterns can also affect the results of your face massage. So how can you deepen your facial massage practice to create longer lasting results? I’m so glad you asked!

How to Get The Best Face Massage Results

Prep skin and layer your products in the correct order for your skin needs.

Face massage is always done on freshly cleansed and toned skin. I also like to warm up skin tissue, which makes the skin more pliable for massage. A gently warmed towel or light steam from a shower is perfect for at-home face massage. No need for extreme heat or steamers. PSA I never used steam in my facials. Correctly warmed towels get the job done without aggravating the skin with extreme temperatures or steamers that dry out the skin when used incorrectly. After you’ve prepped your skin, apply a layer of any water-based serums you use, and a layer of your facial oil. From there, I recommend using high-quality organic jojoba oil on hand for your more extended face massage practice.

I recommend this because you may use a daily facial oil that is formulated to absorb quickly into the skin, something that consumers are usually looking for. Therefore, face massage may not be the most effective use of your daytime oil. As you’re going to go through it quickly because it may not offer enough slip for your entire face massage. I have a pretty informative post on finding the best products to use for face massage, why you may use a balm over an oil and so much more so be sure to check it out here.

Deepen your understanding of facial anatomy.

I’m not saying you have to go full-force geek like myself. But by having a basic understanding of the anatomy of your face, you’ll be able to target areas correctly. Tailor your approach, and create better results. Through face massage, we apply pressure on the face muscles but many other components affect a lifted and sculpted look of the face, which is ultimately the result that many of us are seeking through face massage. Fluids, lymph, fascia, fat pads, and facial muscles all inform each other when it comes to achieving a results-driven facial massage practice.

Have an intention with your face massage techniques so you can curate for your particular needs.

Which highlights the importance of having basic face anatomy knowledge. For example, you may want to release tension from an area, a common spot would be the 11’s in between the brows, which often form from the tension of the procerus and corrugator muscles. In this case, you want to work slower and deeper to melt the tension out. On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you are seeking to create a lift of the skin, a common concern of the cheeks and lower jaw area, quicker, lighter, and more vigorous movements to wake up and activate the area is going to be more supportive to the results you are looking to achieve.

Massage too quickly over tension, the muscle won’t let you in and you won’t see much of a result. Work too slow in an attempt to lift and activate an area and you won’t stimulate the area enough to create lift and enhance suppleness.

Consistency is key in the quest for lasting and compounding face massage results.

Would you work out one time and ask a personal trainer how long the results will last? Probably not! I recommend practicing face massage 4-5 days a week. You can also tailor your techniques according to the time of day. I recommend a.m. face massages for clearing puffiness, awakening and activating the complexion, and evening face massage rituals to melt tension from the day and drift off to sleep free of facial tension.

Empower your beauty routine, and reclaim your individuality with a facial massage.

There you have it! Incorporating a facial massage routine into your skincare routine can work wonders for your skin and overall well-being. By gently massaging your face and neck in circular motions, you can effectively reduce muscle tension and promote lymphatic drainage. Applying targeted pressure to the brow bone and the center of your face can aid in reducing puffiness and improving circulation, resulting in a radiant glow. Enhance the efficacy of your massage by utilizing the right massage tools, such as gua sha or jade rollers. Not only does facial massage provide immediate relaxation, but it also stimulates blood flow, helping to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time.

Remember, it’s always beneficial to seek advice from an esthetician or board-certified dermatologist to customize your routine to your unique skin needs. Embrace the anti-aging benefits of facial massage, break free from the chains of consumerism, and unlock the power of your own self-care journey. Let your beauty shine through, radiant and untamed.

I hope these tips offer you a fresh perspective to incorporate into your face massage rituals and achieve the best results for your complexion through face massage.
